I have met people who I would not deem half ass in terms of work ethic. However, I believe that people lack spirit…it has been soaked out of them in ways that vary from person to person. It is almost like they wear a hard shell around them in which absolutely no one can pierce through. Unfortunately, these people do need to be walked away from so that they can somehow see that their inability to celebrate life is unhealthy not only to themselves, but also to the relationship with the other people in their lives that care and love them. There is not much you can do about how others perceive you or what you say no matter the good intention behind it.
Being in the “supposed to be” phase is a direct rejection to who you can become. I have learned that the best things come from deciding to make strides towards constantly improving myself day in and day out. I really do want to live today as best as possible so that tomorrow can lead with the hard work of today!
For work last week we were asked to watch a you tube video featuring Angela Duckworth and her research about Grit. She made a couple of powerful statements about failure and imperfection. I will list them down below:
- “People who succeed fail all the time. In fact, I think they fail more than anyone else. Failure provides an OPPORTUNITY for information.”
“imperfection eventually leads to some kind of achievement.” Think about Thomas Edison, “I haven’t failed — I’ve just found 10,000 that won’t work.” Michael Jordan “I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”
The main point that I want to get across is your only as good as your state of mind. If your always in states of sadness, anger, depression, or exhaustion how could you ever expect the results you so desperately want to see? In contrast, if your in states or gratitude, happiness, excitement, and enjoyment things will seem more clear and you will have way more willingness to put your best foot forward. The best way to change your state is to decide what it is you want and everyday to make those little steps to executing towards that thing. WE GOT THIS!!
